Hurricane Gonzalo Forces CSAA to Cancel Annual Meeting

The Central Station Alarm Association has canceled its 2014 annual meeting after receiving a warning from Fairmont Southampton Bermuda.

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) has canceled its International 2014 Annual Meeting due to the impending threat of Hurricane Gonzalo.

Due to predictions that Hurricane Gonzalo may become a Category 4 storm by Oct. 16, the Fairmont Southampton Bermuda, which was hosting the event, noted the storm was on track to reach Bermuda on Friday – the first scheduled day of the annual meeting.

“Our hotel has advised us that it is entering ‘Hurricane Preparedness Status’ and is expecting a hit,” according to a statement released on the CSAA’s Web site.

The annual meeting, which would have been the last for both CSAA President Jay Hauhn and CSAA Executive Vice President Steve Doyle before retiring from their respective positions, would have offered attendees a plethora of education sessions.

Topics covered would have included “Monitoring and the Internet of Things,” “DIY and Self Monitoring,” and “The Continued Value of Monitoring.”

Additionally, General George W. Casey Jr., one of the most accomplished soldiers in U.S. history and an authority on strategic leadership, was scheduled to give the keynote address on Monday, October 20.

Hotel reservations for individuals who booked reservations through CSAA’s room block will automatically be canceled. Those who wish to keep their reservations, or have made a reservation outside of the CSAA room block, are advised to contact the Fairmont Southampton Bermuda at +1 441-238-8000.
