Video Surveillance Footage Reveals Power of Nepal Earthquake

Video surveillance footage of the 7.9-magnitude earthquake in Nepal shows how force of the tremor that has led to more than 4,600 deaths and more than 9,000 injuries.

KATHMANDU, Nepal – Video surveillance footage showing the destruction of Saturday’s 7.9-magnitude earthquake in Nepal is now being posted online.

The earthquake has resulted in the deaths of more than 4,600 people, and has injured more than 9,000 others, CNN reports.

One earthquake survivor, Kishor Rana, posted two videos from his home surveillance system to his Facebook page. The video shows plant pots in Rana’s front yard and side of the house smashing to the ground as a result of the earthquake’s force, The Telegraph reports.

Other video surveillance footage shows several aftershocks in Tibet on the same day Nepal was hit by the devastating earthquake, The Guardian reports. The footage shows roads and buildings shaking violently in Gyirong county, which neighbors Nepal.

 

The quake also triggered massive avalanches on Mount Everest, which resulted in the death of a Google executive. The incident has now been declared as the deadliest day on Everest in history.
