Industry Veteran Tim Rains Joins ADT as CISO

Rains has more than 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, including stints at T-Mobile and Amazon and Microsoft.

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Home security brand ADT recently announced that industry veteran Tim Rains has joined the company as its new chief information security officer, Tim Rains.

Rains has more than 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, including leading cybersecurity strategy, assurance, compliance, vulnerability management, risk management and governance for T-Mobile and Amazon and Microsoft.

He has spearheaded initiatives in cybersecurity strategy, assurance, compliance, vulnerability management, risk management, and governance – all areas that ADT prioritizes to ensure the safety of its customers through its security systems and services.

Why ADT Hired Rains at Chief Information Security Officer

At Amazon Web Services, Rains and his team advised public sector organizations around the world on how to mitigate threats using AWS cloud services. During his 17 years at Microsoft, he was the technical leader for the customer-facing incident response team, developed tools to detect threats on Windows systems and performed live forensics. He played an integral role in evolving cybersecurity at Microsoft.

Rains has also written two cybersecurity books and has extensive experience working on both the vendor and operational sides of security.
