LaserShield to Acquire NextAlarm.com

Published: May 7, 2008

OJAI, Calif. — Alarm service provider NextAlarm.com has accepted an agreement to be acquired by LaserShield Systems Inc., a manufacturer of a plug-and-go security system. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

LaserShield’s new Sparrow product, a broadband adapter, plugs into a user’s Internet router to transmit alarm signals over NextAlarm’s Alarm Broadband Network (ABN). The device allows voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and digital telephone subscribers to have their LaserShield systems monitored.

“For our professionally-monitored customers in the United States, we estimate that nearly one-third of our sales inquiries require a VoIP solution for monitoring, as they have given up traditional phone service,” says Anthony Dohrmann, CEO and chairman of Las Cruces, N.M.-based LaserShield Systems.
